The fashion industry has the second highest environmental impact next to oil and gas - Fairly Becoming reveals the urgent need to recognize that harm and questions how to create better, more ethical, relationships to garments and their systems of creation.
A female character who begins flippant about her materialistic ways, slowly reveals the complexities of how clothing is manufactured and the impact our choices have on the health of the garment industry. We witness her discovering the impacts of her desires and developing a new relationship with her once discarded items.
Fairly Becoming premiered at Azimuth Theatre’s Expanse Festival in March 2024. It has thus been presented in other series such as Pat the Dog and Art + Science.
